Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for all Linux networking technology, from the physical layer to the application layer. This is a fantastic opportunity to become an integral part of a growing Operations team. You’ll need to be a great team player, and will have the opportunity to get involved in work across the department as necessary. This is a highly technical role whereby be responsible for installing, configuring, deploying and documenting Linux systems. You will perform health checks of Linux based systems, report bugs back to senior technical staff and implement changes to fix problems.
Responsibilities
● Maintaining and managing the entire Linux server farm, which is predominantly CentOS based.
● Troubleshooting and identifying sources of problems which may involve working directly with the development teams to bring issues to a resolution.
● Establishing and enforcing best practice processes for system management, including configurations, monitoring, patch management and security
● System deployments for domestic and international initiatives
● Compliance with change control and release management processes
Required Skills/Attributes
● RedHat Certified (RHCE, RHCT)
● At least 3 years’ experience in Linux Administration, including new server installation.
● RAID array management (Both hardware and software RAID).
● DNS and RADIUS (FreeRADIUS) management.
● BASH scripting knowledge.
● Deep understanding of the LAMP stack, configuration and management.
● General networking knowledge (OSI model).
● Linux kernel parameter tuning (sysctl).
● Strong understanding of iptables.
Desirable Skills
● VMware ESXi 4.1 & 5.0.
● Ubuntu/Debian experience.
● Nagios & Cacti experience.
● Video transcoding experience via VLC.
● MySQL and PostgreSQL management.
● Experience of managing Java based application servers (JBoss &Tomcat).
● Server management via Spacewalk/Red Hat Network Satellite.
